The ELD level 5 is the final and Advanced stage of proficiency. It can take up to three years to reach this level.

3. Socially comfortable
4. Understands and makes plays on words
5. Reads/writes at grade level

Students at the advanced level may still struggle with direct explanations or feel out of place, but can easily be addressed because a student at this level is fluent in English.

3. Studying figurative language
4. Advanced organizers to clarify difficult concepts
